Each day seems to be more and more exhausting - this morning, we pulled into Skagway, Alaska for our longest day at port.
We gobbled down breakfast at the main buffet and then headed towards the gangway for our shore excursion. This time, the tour bus was packed - I think there were at least 30 people signed up for the Ultimate Yukon & White Pass Railway tour. After checking to make sure we all had our passports, we set off for the Yukon!

We drove along the Klondike Highway, stopping along the way to snap pictures of the beautiful mountain scenery.

Luckily, the sun came out for us and the wind was calm so the photographs turned out really well. About an hour and a half later, we reached the Canadian border and we passed into Fraser, British Columbia.

By 11:30am, we had reached Caribou Crossing in Yukon Territory - or Carcross, for short. There, we were treated to a barbecue lunch in covered wagons, just outside town. Right beside the barbecue area, there was a wildlife museum that featured the world's largest polar bear among other animals found in the area.

Oh, on the way to the lunch, we also passed by the Carcross desert - formed from glacial silt.

On the way back to Fraser, BC, we stopped in the actual town of Carcross to get our passports stamped. The most amazing sight was Emerald Lake, just a few miles outside of the town.

Once we arrived in Fraser, BC, we boarded the famous White Pass and Yukon Railway train - which took us on a scenic journey back to Skagway. It was incredible, travelling along the treacherous terrain and imagining what it must have been like for those stampeders who walked the entire White Pass to search for gold.

In Skagway, we looked around the tourist shops for awhile before going back on the cruise ship for dinner and a magic/comedy show to end the night. The comedian was Jean-Pierre Parent from Montreal, and he did Canadians proud!
