Having time to relax and unwind is wonderful. In the midst of reminiscing over old Disney movies, chatting over cups of tea, and sharing stories over meals, I have no complaints. Well, none except that I'm having a tiny bit of trouble adjusting to leisure.
It's weird - and undoubtedly, you're contemplating whether or not to read the rest of this post. For the past 8 months, I've been working towards this time. Right now. And although there was an initial euphoric period, it feels strangely anticlimactic. Of course, the point was to do nothing, so I guess you might say it was inevitable.
Really though, I think I'd go crazy if I wasn't able to make plans. (That's not to say that insanity hasn't been a visitor during the past few days - apologies to those who have had to put up with me!) Thank goodness I have some appointments to fill the days or look forward to. In the meantime, mornings are as lazy as possible - sleeping in till the twinges of a headache force me out of bed. Afternoons are either spent lounging in front of the TV or absentmindedly going through the various piles of junk that I've accumulated over the years. I've also indulged in the occasional cooking/baking, but there's a limit to those activities since stomach space is frustratingly finite.
Despite being on the brink of boredom, my spirits are still decently high because of the gorgeous weather in Vancouver. From tonight's news report, we've had seventeen straight days of sunshine. For those who are picturing scorching, sweltering heat, banish the idea! It's been perfect - with temperatures hovering around high 'teens to mid-twenties. Oh yes, jealousy is acceptable. But not to worry, Vancouverites rarely have the chance to gloat about such spectacular streaks, so our egos will eventually return to earth.
Anyways, I suppose I should let Mr. Sandman do his job.
